The Basilica of Saint Mary in downtown Minneapolis will be hosting three Thursday evenings of education and discussion on HIV/AIDS locally and globally, with opportunities for action. What is the state of the HIV/AIDS epidemic and how does our faith inform our response?

Feb. 9: Global Issues
What factors contribute to the international pandemic?
* Lucy Slater of NASTAD, an NGO with AIDS technical assistance programs operating in eight countries
* Kevin Winge, Executive Director of Open Arms of Minnesota

Feb. 16: Local Issues
How do local communities deal with the epidemic?
* Karen Clark, state representative of south Minneapolis
* Elizabeth Namarra, SubSaharan African Youth and Family Services in Minnesota
* Viviana Sotro, Latino Outreach Specialist from the American Red Cross
* an African-American Outreach Specialist from the American Red Cross
* a representative of the Aliveness Project
